Rolla, Missouri Creates Governmental Subdivision, Approves Increase in Sales Tax

In the city of Rolla, Missouri, a new 1-cent on the dollar sales tax will take effect on April 1, 2017.

According to a recent article in The Rolla Daily News, the new tax resolution was voted on by The MoveRolla Transportation Development District Board of Directors, who recently met for the first time ever to discuss just about everything necessary to set up a new governmental subdivision.

The sales tax will be put on all retail sales in the district with the following exceptions: the sale of motor vehicles, trailers, boats or outboard motors, sales of electricity or electrical current, water and gas, natural or artificial, and to the sales of service to telephone subscribers.

The Transportation Development District Trust Fund was created by the one percent sales tax resolution.
